Atlanta Braves Reincorporate Star Second Baseman

ATLANTA, Ga. -- The Atlanta Braves welcomed the return of keystone infielder Ozzie Albies from the 10-day injured list on Saturday afternoon. Albies has been sidelined since July 12th nursing an MCL sprain. The Braves infield has struggled mightily without Albies in the lineup going 11-15 when their star second baseman has been out injured.

Impressive Impact Since Arriving in 2017

Albies has been one of the most consistent bats in Atlanta's everyday lineup since being called up to the show in 2017. The 25-year old switch hitter is a career .274 hitter with 64 home runs, 300 RBI, and 129 stolen bases to his credit.

Albies is a crucial part of the Braves lineup and his bat will be a welcomed addition to the Atlanta offense. Albies was hitting .257 with nine home runs and 33 RBIs in 72 games prior to landing on the injured list.

With the trade deadline just 10 days away, the Braves front office has been criticized for their lack of movement. Many fans and media pundits believe that Atlanta needs to make a move to bolster their lineup and most believe that a power bat should be the priority.

However, with Albies expected to return to a lineup that already features Matt Olson, Austin Riley, and Dansby Swanson the Braves may not need to make a major move. Albies bat should provide the necessary offensive boost to keep Atlanta in contention within the NL East.
